Rob Portman was elected to the United States Senate from the state of Ohio in 2010. Portman was first elected to Congress in 1993, where he represented the Second District in southern Ohio. In 2005, Portman was asked to serve as the United States Trade Representative, the Cabinet-level official responsible for implementing and enforcing U.S. trade policy. A year later Portman became Director of the Office of Management and Budget. He currently serves on the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee.
